Have you been listening to the word ‘Podcast’ lately, seeing many people start their own podcasts and wondering what’s meant by a PODCAST? Then look nowhere! We at Inspire Race are here to take you through the world of podcasting, how it’s done, why to start your own podcast, how it can help you scale your personal brand/business, and much more.

Before we dive into the know-how of podcasting let’s go back a bit into its history to know when and how it all started.
The first podcast came out back in 2004 when coding wasn’t easy and we didn’t have platforms like Spotify, or Apple podcasts where with a click of a button you can access millions of shows like today. It was not an easy task to get an audience to find your podcast or even subscribe to it. Now, everyone seems to be starting a podcast, and if you haven’t gotten involved yet, now would be the best time. Though it’s well established in the US, it’s fairly new and has immense potential in the Indian market. So let’s get started!

What is a podcast?

That said a podcast is, ‘an audio file on the internet that you can download and listen to on your phone, tablet or laptop while doing other things or simply multitasking’. You could be driving, or at the gym, or doing your dishes or going for a walk and still listen to a podcast.

Podcasts are a great way for brands to connect with their listeners and potential customers. It provides an intimate connection as they listen to you speak, directly to them. Unlike written content or video content, podcasts grab the listeners attention without any distractions. Currently, the rise of podcasts is very exponential, many companies have realised the power of audio content. According to a survey done by PwC, India ranks third in podcast listeners with around 57 million users. Podcasts are not just for brands or companies, in fact, podcasts were started mostly for independent creators who wanted to share their message and build a community and a personal brand. One such example is the famous podcast by Joe Rogan called the Joe Rogan Experience. His show features people from all walks of life from tech to spirituality. He listens to their stories and brings the best out of his guests to share with the audience.

Podcasts give freedom for creators, they don’t need big recording studios, rather can start recording their shows from the comfort of their home. With a basic setup like a mic, recording & editing software, and hosting/distribution platform one can start recording their show and share it with the world. If you’re intrigued by how a podcast can help you grow and want to learn more about how to start your own podcast be hooked.
